Success Story 4: Site specific nutrient management

Site specific nutrient management (SSNM) based on soil nutrient supply potential and nutrient  use  efficiency  for  specific  yield  targets  was  superior  to  the  currently recommended blanket fertiliser dose or soil test based recommendation (uniform dose) recorded higher yields (5 - 16%) over recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF).

Further,  modification  of  leaf  color  chart  (LCC)  suitable  for  high  yielding  varieties  by DRR and its mass multiplication and distribution to farming community enhanced the grain yields significantly with considerable reduction in Nitrogen application. Already more than 2-3 lakhs of LCC are in use across the country.
