As part of Amrit ka Mahotsav. ICAR-IIRR in association with the Society for Advancement of Rice Research (SARR) has organized a webinar on 22/03/2024 at 10.30 am in a virtual mode. Dr. AP Padamakumari welcomed the speaker and other participants in the webinar. Dr. DVK Nageswara Rao introduced the speaker Dr. Santosh K Pitla to the participants through his biodata and narrated his current research activities and achievements. Director, ICAR-IIRR in his opening remarks emphasized the use of technology intervention-driven practices to cope with the challenges arising from current climate changes. The speaker, Dr Santosh K Pitla, delivered a talk titled “Robotics & AI for Climate Smart Agriculture” with a special focus on Robotic agriculture, camera-assisted drones for weed identification, machine automation for driverless farm operations, phenotyping, Robo-crop soil systems for effective remote sensing and soil sampling. Moreover, he emphasized the usage of Human-machine interface networks for farms for future research followed by interaction sessions with the participants. Dr. B. Sailaja served as the moderator for this session and the proceedings of the webinar were recorded by Drs. MD Tuti and R Gobinath. Nearly 94 persons from IIRR, ICAR sister institutes, AICRP cooperators, and members of SAAR participated in this webinar and the talk elicited many discussions. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Padmakumari, Webinar In-charge, ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad.
