Field visit at Muddamguda village, Shabad mandal, Telangana

ICAR-IIRR in association with Seva Spoorthi foundation organised one day awareness programme on Sustainable rice production and application of drone technology in agriculture on 5th September, 2022 at Muddamguda village, Shabad mandal, Ranga Reddy District of Telangana. Dr. AVSR Swamy, Principal Scientist, Plant breeding and Dr. V.  Manasa, Scientist, Soil science, and Mr. Ratnakar, Manager, Seva spoorthi foundation, Mr. Charan, Vyomic drones, representatives from state agricultural department, village sarpanch and around 40 framers participated in   the meeting. Dr. AVSR swamy explained about newly released varieties of IIRR and also detailed about varieties which are rich in Zn content, Low GI and pest and disease resistance etc. Dr. V. Manasa highlighted the importance of soil health, macro and micro nutrient management in rice crop. Mr. Ratnakar highlighted about Seva Spoorthi foundation activities, facilities / benefits extending to the farmers through the society. Mr. Charan, Vyomic drones explained in detail about use of drones for pesticide and herbicide spary and also demonstrated the urea spray on rice foliage through drone. Scientists visited farmers fields and interacted with the farmer's regarding the cultivation practices followed and suggestions were given to achieve higher rice productivity. Farmers expressed their problems in managing rice fields and Dr. AVSR swamy addressed the queries raised by the farmers.
