ICAR – IIRR Celebrated 8^th Foundation Day - 21^st December 2022 

ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research celebrated 8^th Foundation Day on 21st December 2022 at Dr SVS Shastry Auditorium. Dr A Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Vice Chancellor, ANGRAU was the Chief Guest of the event while Dr S K Pradhan, Addl. Director General (FFC), ICAR, Dr R Jagadeeshwar Director of Research, PJTSAU, and Dr M Sheshu Madhav, Director, Central Tobacco Research Institute were the guest of honours. The program started with ICAR-Song followed by a presentation of glimpses of Dr. SVS Shastry. Welcome address and brief achievements of the Institute was presented by Dr R M Sundaram, Director, ICAR-IIRR. Dr R Jagadeeshwar, Director of Research, PJTSAU applauded the achievements of ICAR-IIRR and expressed happiness over the deep ties of ICAR-IIRR with PJTSAU. Dr M Sheshu Madhav congratulated the institute for significant achievements on all fronts including publications, products, patents and projects. Dr S K Pradhan appreciated the noticeable achievements of ICAR-IIRR in the past one year in terms of releasing 13 rice cultivars and development of genome edited Samba Mahsuri rice lines showing significant increase in grain yield. Dr A Vishnu Vardhan Reddy delivered Dr. SVS Shastry Memorial Lecture. During his lecture, he praised the contribution of ICAR-IIRR in rice research and coordination. The selected staff members of ICAR-IIRR were awarded for their contributions. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr R Mahender Kumar, Head, Agronomy.
