Climate Resilient Agriculture- Farmers’ Awareness Interaction Meet was organized for farmers and scientists of the institute on September 28, 2021 at ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research as part of the Honourable Prime Minister’s address to the nation on September 28, 2021 at 11.00AM via video conferencing. The Honourable Prime minister dedicated 35 crop varieties to the nation which have been developed by the National Agricultural Research System for sustainable agricultural production and also inaugurated the new campus of “National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur” Chhattisgarh.


The meeting was attended by farmers from two villages, Manchal of Ranga Reddy District and Venkatampally of Wanaparthy district of Telangana, adopted by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad. A total of 72 farmers and 54 scientists attended the interaction meet.


The, Director of the institute Dr. R M Sundaram addressed the farmers and elaborated upon the important contribution of ICAR-IIRR and the AICRIP in the development and release of rice varieties viz.DRR Dhan 58 (BLB &Salinity tolerant) DRR Dhan 59 (resistant to BLB) DRR Dhan 60(resistant to BLB, low P tolerant) and DRR Dhan 62(resistant to BLB and Blast).


A farmer-scientist interaction was organized on the importance of adopting climate resilient varieties, practices and technologies for ensuring higher yield in the changing climatic conditions.


A mini-kit of seeds of IIRR varieties was distributed to the farmers for cultivation in the ensuing Rabi season and the technical guidance would be provided through season long training programs in these adopted villages.
